Toddle Up and Sign Makaton Class

Join Toddle Up and Sign at Glusburn Institute, award-winning baby-sign and Makaton classes for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers from 6 months, using songs, stories and sensory play to teach signing.

Classes are aimed at parents and caregivers, and are designed to be as fun and stimulating as possible for little ones — using stories, songs and props to teach a range of useful signs each week.

Makaton is an excellent communication tool to complement speech development in babies and toddlers. Signing can ease frustration for children, allowing them to express their needs before full speech has developed — and learning sign language together is also a lovely bonding exercise between caregivers and little ones.

Classes are led by the class founder, who was awarded Most Loved Activity Leader in the North of England in the 2020 National “What’s On 4 Kids” Awards.
