Join Glusburn Youth Theatre as they present the tangled tale of Rapunzel, her prince and her long golden hair. The show runs from Sunday 20th to Saturday 26th February at Glusburn Community and Arts Centre. After many years of waiting, a man and his wife are finally blessed with a child. The woman falls ill during her pregnancy and her husband takes some medicinal herbs from an old woman. The old woman - a witch - demands their first-born child in return. They refuse, but she steals the child from her cot one night, raises her as her grandchild, names her Rapunzel and locks her in a tower. The only way into the tower is by climbing Rapunzel’s long golden hair.
As Rapunzel nears her 18th birthday, she asks her 'grandmother' if she may leave the tower to see the lights that float in the sky every year on her birthday - of course, she refuses. A prince discovers the tower and climbs it - Rapunzel uses him to help her escape, and as they travel they fall in love. Realising who she is, he reunites her with her parents, and they all live happily ever after.
